Musgrave actually called for Gonzales to step down? Satan must be ice skating to work today. 🙂
This just shows how weak Bush is now, and not much else.
how weak Musgrave is. She would never go against the Evangelization of our Justice Department otherwise.
Much of the sentiment from conservative circles when the whole AUSA controversy erupted was: “Darnit, now we can’t ask for Gonzales to step down (because of incompetence) because it will validate the witch hunt.”
Before the AUSA thing erupted, there was plenty of anti-Gonzales movement on the right side of the aisle. But the conservatives stood by him on the grounds that the investigation itself was contrived. Throw him under the bus, and you’re just going to see more witch hunts.
(And the fact that the AG didn’t exactly cover himself in glory when it came to his testimony, etc., didn’t make things any easier.)
From a purely political standpoint, this move theoretically says “I’m bipartisan” to the unaffiliated, “I’m a conservative before I’m a Republican” to the movement conservatives. Kind of a smart political move. Musgrave’s been making quite a few of those recently.

I agree. Nicely put
if this move is on the level and indicative of what MM will do as a member of the congressional minority. I guess the ’06 election woke her up.
Then she should definately be voted out. I think she’s on her way to gaining her footing in that district.
I want to applaud her for calling on his resignation, but when she says:
“…. to ensure that the president, Congress and the county’s leaders can rededicate themselves to the important issues facing our nation.”
and since she has also said:
Musgrave said that defining marriage as between a man and a woman is the most important issue we face today.
Frankly she makes me nervous….
Does that mean she will be re-introducing her Constitutional Amendment?
I don’t know if, or how, the process for submitting Constitutional amendments differ from submitting bills, but if it has to go through a committee first it won’t go anywhere.
